The World And Our Planet Are

Changing — and So Should We

Tending to the Roots of Change,

Where World Care Meets Inner Care

We’re living in a time of polycrisis: multiple, compounding global challenges that make it hard to stay grounded and keep going. Our nervous systems aren’t built to carry this all alone. And we shouldn’t have to. That’s where the Climate Emotional Resilience Institute (CERI) comes in. We help people working towards a better world to care for their inner world, too.

CERI exists to support people, communities and organizations emotionally and mentally as they navigate the realities of this unfolding polycrisis. Whether you’re an activist, nonprofit leader, scientist, artist, or simply someone who cares deeply about the planet, you’ve probably felt overwhelmed, anxious, burned out—or even numb.

We offer tools, community spaces, and practices that build emotional resilience, reduce burnout, and help you reconnect with purpose and hope. Our approach teaches what we call internal activism—the idea that tending to our inner lives is part of building a more just, resilient world.

  • I stumbled upon Thicket (Training) at the exact moment I needed a group like this. I am so grateful for the care and intentionality that Elizabeth and Eva put into creating this space for us. I felt an instant kinship to the other participants and looked forward to our biweekly gatherings. This group inspired me, challenged me, and made me feel less alone in navigating the climate crisis we're all experiencing. I feel more equipped and grounded to continue my work as a climate-aware therapist and although my Thicket experience is over, I carry the stories and wisdom of this special group with me.

    - Meg, from Austin, TX

  • I was feeling pathological (about feelings related to climate grief, spirituality, disillusion about current systems) before Thicket. The trainings showed me that a LOT of other people this way, there is power in feeling, and there are tools to help. The training acted as medicine for a hurt that isn’t always recognized or validated in every day life.

    - Halie, Lead Sustainability & Community Advancement Strategist

  • Christine (Homan) did a beautiful job of identifying anxieties many of us have and gave solid ideas of how to manage them and be thoughtfully engaged in working on solutions to climate change without getting burned out.

    - Robin Hoffman, Care of Creation Team, Augustana Lutheran Church

  • Eva Jahn led an amazing 4-part workshop for our board, staff and top volunteers on climate wellness and resilience. It was so powerful and effective, giving our people who've dedicated years of their lives to the climate movement a restorative experience that they have been able to continue to draw from to sustain their work and passion. Eva's wisdom and facilitation experience was phenomenal. I would highly recommend her to any group!
